The acting department specialise in all areas of acting:
Infant classes
Poetry, choral speaking, rhythm with words, improvisation, mime, devising, PSHE, story structure and basic stage etiquette, confidence, team building, social skills.
Introduction to line learn and voice projection.
JUNIOR classes
Poetry, choral speaking, rhythm vocally and physically, introduction to ensemble, improvisation, mime, devising, PSHE, conflict resolution, clarity of speech, working with a script, accents- RP and American.
Introductions to 19th century plays and Shakespeare.
Confidence, Team building, Social skills.
Youth Theatre:
improvisation; including solo work. Script work, character work and analysis including vocal and physical choices. Further performance and confidence skills. Ensemble work, including object manipulation, basic puppetry. Clowning and comedy work. Radio plays, using sound effects, developing Shakespeare and introduction to classical texts. Advert/ commercial acting and creating.
Integrating other disciplines.
Senior Youth Academy
Large focus on ensemble work, physical theatre, classical texts including Shakespeare and Greek Theatre. Intense Vocal work further accent development, screen acting, naturalistic and absurd theatre. Solo, Duo and group work. Enhancement of work with GCSE, AS and A Level drama and theatre studies. Career and further study advice, along with references and help with personal statements (year 12/13 pupils).
Emerging Artists Program:
JADA EA has a sole focus on industry preparation and drama school auditions, audition speech preparation, industry practice/ networking and opportunities. This course varies depending on the needs of the cohort, with the chance for pupils to direct and produce with guidance from mentors.
